Breakdown your Capital Planning

1. Generate the Model

Let’s use Sample Bank as an example to run the Capital Planning Model.

Once you click on Generate Dashboards, an authoring message will pop-up. This message shares our most recent troubleshooting tips. Once you have read through the messages, click “Yes”.

2. Tab Generation

The Capital Model will appear in your browser, and you will be taken directly into the Model.

3. Landing Page

This tab shows the name of the model and has a forward icon to move to the next tab. You can also move through the tabs by clicking on the tabs at the bottom of the Dashboard.

4. Navigation Pane

This tab shows you the list of Navigation icons in the Dashboard and where they will take you.

5. Home Page

This tab shows you the list of sections in the Dashboard and their summary description. You will be able to move through the contents of the Model by clicking on the forward arrows next to each Linked Guide.

6. Goal and General Objectives

This tab allows you to determine the objectives your organization hopes to achieve with this Capital Plan.

7. Planned Improvements

This tab allows you to determine what your organization plans to improve upon moving forward.

8. Risk Assessed Capital

This tab allows the user to input the organization’s risks that would impact the capital, the impact of each risk, and an explanation for each risk. To assist with calculations, an impact calculator can be found on the bottom part of the tab that allows the user to determine the potential loss due to each risk entered.

9. Financial Inputs

This tab allows the user to populate holding company and elimination balances to tie out to the organization’s balance sheet and income statement on a consolidated level. There are checks integrated into this Model that will populate in red text to signify if the inputs are not correct.

10. Capital Stack Input

This tab allows the user to input the organization’s Capital Stack. This should tie to the organization’s budget.

11. Budget and Plan

This tab allows the user to input the organization’s 3 to 5-year budget data for institution, holding company, and eliminations as applicable.

12. Models 1 - 4

This model allows the user to create “what if” scenarios based on different Capital strategies the organization would like to model. The data will be overlayed on the organizations 3 to 5-year budget to allow the organization to see the impact each scenario has on the capital position and overall value.

13. Summary

This tab illustrates the impact to both, the organization’s capital levels and the resulting value change of each “what if” scenario from each Model tab.

14. Chosen Scenario Output

This tab allows the user to select a final scenario to populate in the Capital document.
